India have been battered by injury woes in recent times, and there is a lot of secrecy around the fitness of some of them, Ishant Sharma in particular. A clearer picture is likely to emerge on February 7 when Ishant, along the with the other injured players in the side, Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja and Bhuvneshwar Kumar will undergo an exhaustive fitness test. The same will take place a day before India’s first warm up match against Australia.

A source was quoted by saying as PTI that, “The fitness test will be in two parts for the quartet. The ones who clear the test will be tried out in the warm-up game against the Aussies the day after. Following this, the team management will take a final call.” The source added that presently no one is being sent back home.
Of the four players injured, it has been learnt that opener Rohit Sharma has recovered very well from his hamstring injury and is in good shape to feature in the first warm-up game against the Aussies. “Rohit’s recovery is around 80 percent till now,” the source confirmed to PTI. About the others, the source stated, Ishant is suffering from a knee injury, Bhuvneshwar is recovering from an ankle injury while Jadeja is dealing with his shoulder injury.
The source also confirmed to PTI that media reports of Team India spending time at a five-star resort on the outskirts of Adelaide was wrong. “The squad is put up at the Inter-Continental Hotel in Adelaide. All other reports are baseless,” the report quoted the source as saying.
Intriguingly, there have also been media reports doing the rounds claiming that Mohit Sharma will replace injured Ishant in the World Cup squad. There has been no confirmation on the same.
