Ind vs SL 3rd T20 result : India defeated Sri Lanka by five wickets in the third and final T20 at Mumbai to clean sweep the PayTM Ind vs SL T20 series 2017 3-0. Check out the Ind vs SL 3rd T20 scorecard here.

India had to work hard to chase down a modest target of 136 in 20 overs as Sri Lanka put up a decent bowling performance with the game going down to the last over.

At 108 for 5 in the 17th over, Sri Lanka fancied its chances of a consolation victory to end the tour but a couple of loose balls changed the outcome of the match.

The experienced duo of MS Dhoni (16*) and Dinesh Karthik (18*) held their nerve to ensure that India got past 135 with four balls to spare.

Skipper Rohit Sharma looked good for his 27 before he was second man out, leaving India in early trouble at 39 for 2 in 7 overs. Youngsters Shreyas Iyer and Manish Pandey then took over the responsibility and against the moving ball had somehow managed to survive and put up a crucial partnership of 42 for the third wicket.

Shreyas Iyer scored 30 from 32 balls while Manish Pandey contributed 32 from 29 balls. With wickets in hand, the rest of the target wasn’t tough for India, especially with the Lankan bowlers losing the plot towards the end which included a full toss from Nuwan Pradeep in the 19th over which was heaved for a six by Dinesh Karthik.

Among the Sri Lankan bowlers, seamer Dushmantha Chameera bowled well to take 2 for 22 in four overs.

Earlier in the evening, India restricted Sri Lanka to 135 for 7 after winning the toss and electing to bowl first. Left-arm medium pacer Jaydev Unadkat came up with a miserly spell of 2 for 15 in 4 overs to pick the Man of the Match award while debutant Washington Sundar took 1 for 22 in his 4 overs.

The player of the series award also went to Jaydev Unadkat for his consistent show in all the three matches.
