India Cricket Coach Duncan Fletcher feels that Team India under MS Dhoni has a good chance of winning the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup. According to Duncan Fletcher, this confidence stems from the fact that India has performed exceedingly well in the last couple of ICC tournaments. Fletcher was referring to the fact that India won the Champions Trophy in 2013, and had even reached the final of the 2014 World Twenty20.

Speaking to bcci.tv, Duncan Fletcher elaborated:

This team has faced all kinds of situations in limited overs formats in recent years and has proved that they can successfully come out from any of them. This is what makes me believe that we have a good chance of winning the ICC World Cup 2015.

The Indian coach singled out the performance in the 2013 Champions Trophy in England as one of major reasons why he feels India will shine at the World Cup.

Duncan Fletcher said:

We played very well in foreign conditions that didn’t suit our side. In spite of this, we did not lose a single game. This proves that the team has developed a winning habit, which is very exciting.

On most of players from the 2011 victorious World Cup campaign not being part of the current side, Duncan Fletcher pointed out that the present squad has enough experience to deal with the conditions since they have already been exposed to big tournaments like the Champions Trophy.

Duncan Fletcher said:

Experience is important. And we have it. The current outfit has been part of three ICC tournaments in the last three years — the World T20 2012 and 2014, and the Champions Trophy 2013.

Fletcher further pointed out India’s impressive record in these ICC events.

Duncan Fletcher concluded saying

You will be surprised to know that India has only lost two matches in these three tournaments, one of them in a final, which is a record to be proud of. Most from the current crop have been part of these events. This means that the team has experience when it comes to big tournaments, and know how to win.
