Rohit Sharma, who scored a responsible half century in the 2nd ODI at Cardiff has been ruled out of the remainder of the 5-match Royal London ODI Series. Rohit Sharma was hurt when he put down a smashing pull shot from Chris Woakes in the 35th over of the English run chase. Rohit immediately left the field and later on it was known that that he had broken it.

Ironically it is for the second time that Rohit Sharma has fractured his finger during an England tour. The last time it was in 2011 when Rohit Sharma got hit on the finger by a short ball from Stuart Broad. Rohit Sharma is likely to miss the upcoming Champions League T20 as well for the Mumbai Indians.
India have surprisingly called up Test opener Murali Vijay as Rohit Sharma’s replacement despite the squad having as many as 16 players! AT Rayudu, Sanju Samson and Stuart Binny provide the other batting options. Most likely Ambati Rayudu will be replacing Rohit Sharma in the playing XI and is expected to bat in the middle order. Ajinkya Rahane who had previously opened the innings in ODIs will fill up as the opener.
