The third Test match between West Indies and India seems to be heading for a draw as persistent rain ensured that there was no play at all during the third day at the Darren Sammy National Stadium in Gros Islet, St Lucia.

Although the pitch promised to be result-oriented, only 11 wickets have gone down in the first two days. On the first day, India were struggling as they lost half of their batting without much on the board after being asked to bat first by Jason Holder. However, centuries from R Ashwin and Wriddhiman Saha rescued them to end up with a solid first innings total of 353.

None of the Indian bowlers could strike in the 47 overs they bowled during the second day. The only success for Team India came through a run out from Lokesh Rahul.

The third day’s play was called off before Tea itself as the rain was relentless and the ground had seen irrecoverable damage already.

As things stand by, West Indies trail behind by 246 runs in their first innings with nine wickets in hand and it is already the fourth day we are talking about.

The fourth day is also likely to see rain. However, the forecast is for showers in the morning session while the remaining sessions could see clear weather. This of course will not be sufficient to take the match forward towards a result.
