SA vs Ind 1st Test Day 2 Highlights : All-rounder Hardik Pandya gave hopes that he is the next Kapil Dev of the Indian team after scoring a spectacular knock and rounding off the day taking two wickets although South Africa remain on top of the first Test with a lead of 142 runs.

Hardik Pandya’s brilliant knock of 93 from just 95 balls saw India recover from 92 for 7 to 209 to help the visitors keep down their first innings deficit to 77 runs. Towards, the end of Day 2 of the Newlands Test match, South Africa in their second innings is 65 for 2 having lost its openers to Hardik Pandya.

The Ind vs SA 1st Test 2nd day began with India on the backfoot at 28 for 3 after bowling out South Africa for 286 on Day 1. The overnight batsmen Rohit Sharma (11) and Cheteshwar Pujara (26) got out early. While Rohit Sharma was lbw to Kagiso Rabad’s full length inswinger, Cheteshwar Pujara fished at a short away going seamer from Vernon Philander.

R Ashwin (12) was caught behind off Vernon Philander playing a loose drive and Wriddhiman Saha was lbw for a duck offering no shot to an inswinger from Dale Steyn. Hardik Pandya pulled off a great partnership of 99 runs for the eight wicket with Bhuvneshwar Kumar (25), who eventually ran out of patience to nick an ambitious drive off Morne Morkel.

Hardik Pandya fell just short of a great hundred when he nicked his upper cut off Kagiso Rabada to Quinton de Kock. The 24-year all-rounder missed out on a second Test century in a knock that was filled with 14 fours and a six.

In their second innings, South Africa looked comfortable with the pitch looking good for batting until Hardik Pandya got the openers losing their concentration. Aiden Markram scored 34 while his opening partner Dean Elgar scored 25. At crease for South Africa are night watchman Kagiso Rabada on 2 and Hashim Amla on 4 as per the SA vs Ind 1st Test Day 2 highlights.
