RCB latest news : Former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson has been named as the stand-in captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore which has been plagued with injuries days ahead of the Vivo IPL 2017.
South Africa’s star AB de Villiers was to take over the captaincy from the injured Virat Kohli but the former himself has been ruled out of the Vivo IPL 2017 opening game against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 5. News is that AB de Villiers is suffering from a back injury which made him miss the Momentum One Day Cup 2017 Final in South Africa.
AB de Villiers is very much with the RCB squad and has taken part in the team’s training but has been advised to take rest for few days.
Apart from Virat Kohli, Lokesh Rahul will also miss out on the Vivo IPL 10 action due to an injury. Unlike Kohli, Lokesh Rahul has been ruled out of the entire tournament.
Adding further trouble to the team’s fortunes is teenage sensation, Sarfaraz Khan who is also likely to miss out Vivo IPL 2017 after he was stretchered out from a training session on Monday due a leg injury, as reported by Cricinfo.
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli will be with the RCB as a mentor. For the record, RCB is yet to win an IPL title in 10 attempts so far.
