Bengal wicket keeper batsman Wriddhiman Saha said that Team India will not take Bangladesh for granted in the upcoming India vs Bangladesh 2017 Series. This, he says, despite India’s fantastic match winning form in home conditions, following series wins against New Zealand and England.

The Ind vs Ban Only Test will be played at Hyderabad from February 9. Speaking to NDTV just ahead of his departure to Hyderabad, Wriddhiman Saha said: “Ranking-wise one may think they will be easier opponents on paper. But we cannot underestimate them before taking on to the field. It all depends on the situation on a given day. We have to approach it accordingly.

India defeated England 4-0 and New Zealand 3-0 respectively at home in the Test match series against the two countries.

However, Wriddhiman Saha reiterated that it would be a fresh beginning against Bangladesh. Saha said: “Everyone wants do well on the field. You may not do what you think. It’s about converting your thoughts into a good performance.”

Australia are set to visit India after Bangladesh play their first ever Test on Indian soil. Commenting on the Australian series, Wriddhiman Saha said: “I don’t know when are the Aussies coming but as of now the focus is on Bangladesh Test. After they’re here we will think about it.”

Coming back from an injury, Wriddhiman Saha scored a career best of 203 not out in the Irani Trophy 2017 match against Gujarat for Rest of India. He followed it up by playing in the Zonal T20 League 2017 for Bengal to prove his match fitness.

Talking about Bengal’s performance in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Zonal T20 League 2017, Wriddhiman Saha said: “It’s difficult to be consistent in Twenty20 format. But we have done well in all the three — bowling, batting and fielding — departments of the game. It’s an outstanding show.”

Saha added that it would not be difficult for him to switch back to Test format from the T20 format he had just been involved in. The Bengal stumped said that it was all in the mind and the right ball to pick.
